Why Lactusan

Lactusan is a prebiotic. Both probiotics (preparations of live bacteria) and Lactusan have the same purpose to compensate for the deficiency of the “useful” intestinal microflora. However, Lactusan has a number of advantages, namely:

Purpose: probiotics - to colonize the intestines with alien microflora.

Purpose of Lactusan : (prebiotic) - to stimulate the growth of its own microflora.

Treatment strategy: probiotics infect (colonize) the intestines with foreign microflora.

Lactusan strategy: not to colonize the intestines with alien microflora, but to stimulate the growth of one's own microflora.

Permeability: Only 5-10 % of live bacteria contained in probiotics reach the colon.

Prebiotics are not digested in the upper gastrointestinal tract and reach the large intestine unchanged.

Selectivity: out of 500 types of normal intestinal flora, probiotics contain only 1-2 strains of beneficial bacteria.

Prebiotics, being a food substrate of the normal flora of the intestine, stimulate the entire population

beneficial gut bacteria.
